Smoke Certifications

These are required for any change in renters or owners. All Building Permits must be closed in order for the smoke certification to be released before the change in occupancy. Building Department approval is needed before the scheduling of the smoke certification. The Fire Marshall's inspector will be checking to see if there are adequate smoke detectors and that they are functioning properly. A carbon monoxide detector is required in the vicinity of the bedrooms and a fire extinguisher must be mounted in the kitchen area. For scheduling call the Fire Marshall's office at 973-729-4227.
