As of April 1, 2024, the New Jersey DCA requires that ALL inspections are requested in writing. Inspections can be requested online through the SDL Portal 24/7 or by downloading the SDL Mobile App. You can also schedule inspections by emailing the Building Department with your inspection request.
Please be sure to include the property address, permit number, onsite contact name, and phone number for the individual who will be present at the inspection in your email, or we will not be able to guarantee the scheduling of it. Unfortunately, specific inspection times are not granted. Inspection Timeframes are as follows:
- Building: 10 am to 3 pm Monday through Friday
- Electric: 10 am to 3 pm from Monday through Friday
- Plumbing/Mechanical: 10 am to 3 pm from Monday through Friday
- Fire: 10 am to 3 pm from Monday and Wednesday only
Required Inspection Reminders
Please have the permit placard clearly posted and the property address clearly labeled so that the inspectors can easily find your site. (View Ordinance Chapter 12.
Please be sure to have a place where inspectors can leave inspection stickers. This is especially important for new construction. Be sure to have a job board erected.
Please retain your inspection stickers until the project is complete and a Certificate is issued.
