Calling All Sparta Families with Roots in American History!
Sparta's RevolutionNJ committee was established last year to develop a plan for the commemoration of the 250th anniversary of the establishment of the United States as an independent Nation in 2026. The committee will promote the maximum involvement of our residents, neighborhoods, businesses, schools, civic organizations, and institutions in the commemorations.
The Revolution 250th Anniversary Committee is inviting Sparta families with ancestral ties to the American Revolution and American history in the 1700s and 1800s to come forward and share their stories. By sharing your family's history, you will contribute to the collective memory of US history and help create a comprehensive record of the families who shaped our nation's early years. The committee will collect these stories and develop methods to share them with the community.
To participate, please contact the Sparta Revolution 250th Anniversary Committee at revolutionnj@spartanj.org and provide the following information in your e-mail:
1. Your full name
2. Contact information (phone number and email address)
3. An overview of your family's connection to the American Revolution or history in Sparta in the 1700 and 1800s
4. Any supporting documents or evidence, such as family trees, historical records, or personal accounts that you wish to include
Once we receive your e-mail, a committee member will be in touch to discuss further steps and gather additional information if necessary.
