The Finance Department is divided into three sections: Tax Assessment, Tax Collection, and Purchasing / Disbursement. The Assessors's Office is responsible for property valuation, while the Tax Collector assures the proper billing and collection of local property taxes.
PLEASE BE ADVISED that the State of New Jersey does NOT allow the Tax Collector to acknowledge postmarks when sending your tax or utility payment, either via first class mail or paid through your bank on-line. Your payments must be received in the Tax Collector’s office on or before the applicable due dates.
ALSO BE ADVISED, failure to receive a tax or utility bill does NOT exempt you from paying your bills or interest due on any delinquencies. If you feel you have not received a tax or utility bill, it is your responsibility to check the status of your accounts online at www.spartanj.org or call the Tax Collector or Utility Department.
The Tax Collector is NOT responsible for any payments lost through the mailing process. If your payment gets lost in the mail (whether it be by first-class mailing or on-line payment through your bank), YOU ARE STILL RESPONSIBILE FOR THE PAYMENT AND ANY INTEREST INCURRED. You may check the status of your accounts online at www.spartanj.org or call the Tax Collector or Utility Department to verify your payment has been received.
