   2016 Property Tax Revaluation

Please be advised that the Township of Sparta has begun the 2016 Property Tax Revaluation.  The first step of the revaluation process is the physical inspection of all properties in the Township, which will begin on or about April 1, 2015.  The Township contracted with Appraisal Systems, Inc. to conduct the revaluation program.  Representatives of Appraisal Systems, Inc. will have a company issued identification badge as well as an introductory letter signed by the Township Tax Assessor, to ensure you know you are dealing with an authorized employee of Appraisal Systems, Inc.

Please allow the representative to measure and photograph the exterior of all buildings and inspect the interior.  If you are not available at the time of the initial inspection the representative will leave a card with a date and time for a return visit.  A phone number will be on the card should you need to reschedule.

Please refer to the link below for a PowerPoint presentation of the revaluation process and frequently asked questions.  For any questions, please call 973-729-2626.

Thank you for your cooperation.

Call Before You Dig

The federally mandated, national phone number, 811,
helps prevent you from unintentionally hitting underground
utility lines. Before you begin projects that involve
digging, dial 811 to locate underground electric, gas or
other utility lines. Digging without this information can
cause power outages, and it’s extremely dangerous.
Simply tell the 811 operator where you’re planning to dig
and what type of work you will be doing, and your local
utility companies will be notified. Within a few days, they
will mark the location of underground lines. Please call at
least three days in advance to avoid unnecessary delays
to your project. Know what’s below – Call before you dig!
